Paisley Thrills

If you haven't noticed already, my latest go to winter staple is this lovely paisley printed bomber jacket/hoodie. I was really drawn to the intricate combinations of red, burgundy, mint, and the occasional splash of yellow. It's got a beautiful satin finish with a black quilted interior that has kept me surprisingly warm for the past few weeks that have been growing colder with each day.

Now that exams are over and I'm caught up in the whirlwind of packing to head back to Singapore, I find that this jacket is just perfect for spicing up the plain outfits that I've been throwing on in a hurry every day.

This shoot is as spontaneous as it will get. I met up with my friend Lei, and I had a wonderful time with her catching up over brunch and relieving some exam stress. Turns out she had planned for an outfit shoot later that day and she asked me to join her. Our friend, Jen, helped us take the photos.

Lei also blogs, so check out her awesome fashion blog here to show her some unicorn lovin' !

Unplanned as it was, I'm quite happy with the way it turned out. I'm not a very adventurous person and like to stick with comfort, but I enjoyed the unexpectedness of having another person doing the photo-taking and shooting with a friend.

Oh see that scrape on my knee? Don't mind it. I was just being my clumsy self. In my case, it's an actual talent.

I've got to get back to my packing now, next blogpost will be up when I get back to Singapore! Happy week ahead everyone!

Towards Colder Days

It's that time of the semester where we as we pile on the layers, university piles on the work. I've been having a pretty indulgent past couple of weeks, brunching at new places and just generally spending my time faffing around with friends and not doing anything productive. Here are some photos to whet your appetite:

As life is settling into a pretty gloomy mood, I find colours and patterns in outfits I wear really cheer me up. I pulled out my oranges and reds - colours that I find just scream mirth and happiness. I find that my favourite piece in this outfit has got to be the metallic neon orange clutch from Bimba and Lola. I love their quirky, avant-garde take on colours and combinations for their accessories. Believe me when I say I want ALL the accessories in the store.

I absolutely love this NafNaf coat - the princess-style cut is perfect with the slightly cinched waist and flared bottom. And not only is it in this beautiful navy blue, it also comes with a hood, which means you can combat the ever temperamental melbourne weather while looking your best.

Tired of my wedge creepers yet? :P

Ending March

To sum it up, March has been wonderful. I've been reunited with my college friends whom I party with, laugh with, study with, go absolutely nutters with, and love to death. I've been going for brunch with my girlfriends (#thebrunchsociete) quite often, exploring the quainter corners of Melbourne, and I must say the occasional escapade is a great time to take a breather. I am also, for once in my life, up to date with my lectures and assignments for uni.  *pats head gleefully*

I'm really, really happy. It's going to get tough soon once uni gets to the assignment period, but I'm going to enjoy this happiness while it's here.

And to end off this awesome month I went to Pillar of Salt in Richmond with #thebrunchsociete. It was Sharon's birthday, so all the more we should have gone out of our way to somewhere nice. It's a little off the city grid, but the time taken to go there is certainly worth every minute. I wont lie to you to curb your internet-food-photo fantasies. The food tastes as mouth-wateringly delicious as it looks in the photos below. We ate and laughed and shopped till our wallets shouted in distress and it was wonderful. :)

You were a real bitch with the blazing hot days at first, but you made it up with everything else.

Thank you, March!

As you've realised, this is just a little outfit of the day filler. But I did pick up some really awesome pieces the other day, so look forward to another post in a week or so!

Playing for keeps

LONG POST ALERT!
I went out with friends for brunch today, a last outing before I retreat into study mode. I haven't seen these people for a while, so it was nice to catch up and update each other on plans and life in general. To be quite honest I don't talk with them very much because living in college takes up pretty much my entire life right now. But they're the ones that I first made friends with and lived with when I came to Melbourne, and to me that's created a connection that's always going to tie me to these people. The Singlish and Chinese slip out and it feels pretty nice. I think this one is for keeps. :)

I had the big breakfast and that's P.shan's lamb burger. This stuff tastes like heaven. Everything is done to perfection. The scrambled eggs are supple but not overcooked, the bacon is tender and the mushrooms are amazing. everything was not too salty or sweet. The place we went to was LE MIEL et la lune on Elgin St, only 10 minutes walk away from where I stay.

Being the most vain, image concious person you'll come across in your average group of people, of course I took this opportunity to dress up nicely for the last time in about 2 weeks. I ditched my more summery look for a fiercer one, putting together more blacks and golds and less white. I always like only one or two items to the the centre of attention in any outfit, so in this one it's my oversized leopard tee and burgundy owl bag.

I keep featuring my neon Bimba&Lola clutch and this Owl bag because I have no other bags right now, they're nicely packed away in my closet in Singapore and I'm regretting not bringing them over! You'll see the rest of my bag family in about a month :D

Realizing that I'm almost completely decked out in ASOS has made me come to terms with the fact that I'm burning a VERY large hole in my pocket.

Let me warn you potential buyers of this oversized leopard tee - ITS HUGE. I'm not the skinniest person on Earth and I'm literally swimming in a size 10. I'm normally a size 8-10 for tops on ASOS, so I would recommend dropping a size when ordering this. However, it flows pretty nicely on top of this skater skirt because of the tight waistline and stiffer material. It was slightly chilly so I put on these sheer cross tights; I think the pattern is simple enough so as not to overcomplicate the outfit. Finished off with a pair of black heeled boots! I put on some more delicate and feminine arm candy to counter the fierceness of the other pieces.

Thanks to my wonderful friend Sharon who owns a DSLR and has has kindly agreed to take my outfit photos, this post will be filled with  AWESOME BIG GOOD QUALITY WONDERFUL HD photos instead of the sad ones I pilfer off my instagram. (follow her on instagram @theredninja )
