Marbled Madness

Doing my nails is another luxury I like to indulge in; having nicely manicured nails always makes me feel that tiny bit more dressed up than I already am. Here's a quick post on my favourite set of nails yet, and a sneak peek at a new addition to my bag family.

After lusting over my favourite blogger Willabelle's nails for a very long time, I decided it was time to bite the bullet. It was in the christmas of 2013 that I paid my first visit to The Nail Artelier, a little shop house nestled in the heart of Singapore's Haji Lane. One of their nail artists set me up with this adorable set of christmas themed nails, and I was sold. I have since made it a point to visit them every time I return during the semester breaks, resulting in this set and this set.

This marbled, geometric, iridescent masterpiece is the handiwork of Ying who is at their Kembangan branch. They are able to do any sort of nail art you want - portraits, anime characters, intricate lace designs, 3D nail art and textures - you name it, they do it. I leave you their Instagram page  for your perusal.

I've visited my fair share of bad nail salons - those that roughly remove gel manicures, destroying your nails in the process, to those that charge an exorbitant $20 extra during Chinese New Year and don't tell you until after you're done. But The Nail Artelier is by far the best and most professional I have ever been to. Each time I visit them I am satisfied and impressed with their work; all their nail artists are skilled and meticulous. They always deliver exactly what you want and I can guarantee you will not leave disappointed.

I'll give it to you that they are on the pricey side, but for this quality of work - in the words of Taylor Swift - "The high was worth the pain".

Iridescent

Happy 2014 everyone! Hope everyone has had a blast on New Year's eve and are all ready with your lists of resolutions to begin the new year. I'm not sure how long mine is going to last me, cutting down on online shopping is pretty high on that list, and we all know how much of a sucker I am for ASOS sales.

I wanted to start the year with a bang, so I decided on this quirky geometric pattern I've been lusting after for nearly a year now. Again, the artists at The Nail Artelier have not failed in expectations at all, I am absolutely smitten with the results. I was looking for the perfect time to sport these fun, loud nails and I've found the perfect occasion! I first saw them on Momoko Ogihara's instagram account, the magic behind Japanese mode fashion line, MURUA, and while I've changed up the colour of the disco ball thinggums, everything else is pretty much the same.

2013 has given me so much to be grateful for. Thank you for being uplifting in lessons, wise in teachings, plentiful in laughter, endless in friendship, open-hearted with forgiveness and generous with love.

T'is The Season To Be Merry

Hello friends! It's that time of the year again and Christmas is once again upon us! While it does not carry any significant meaning to my family or myself, I just think giving out gifts, cards and spreading well wishes is a nice thing to do. Also, who am I to pass up another reason for a party?

Back with just a quick post about Christmas nails, while I'm in the flurry of getting various cards and addresses sorted. I got this set done at The Nail Artelier! It's been about a week and I still can't believe how cute the reindeer is. So much love!

I'll leave you with Lea Michele's stunning rendition of O Holy Night - I know it's rather old, but her voice is just phenomenal and such welcome relief from the tinny remixes that are blasted by most shopping malls.

Photodiary

I'm sorry for the shabbiness of this post, but I have finally worked my way through the torrent of work spew that's being hurled my way, and I'm going to take a break now.

So here are some visuals I put together over the past few months. The first few are from back when I was in Singapore and Malaysia. My favourite from this whole photoset is probably #3, of the old shophouse on 120 Armenian St. It belongs to a grandaunt of mine.

Fun fact: Sun Yat Sen held a badass revolutionary fundraising meeting here.

Political fun facts aside, I really love the vintage peranakan vibe the house has to it. It's also got a courtyard that lets in sunlight as well as bedrooms upstairs with beautiful colonial style louvre windows. It's even got that smell of old parquet in some of the upstairs rooms. Go look it up on google, actually, it's pretty fascinating! (the house, I mean. Not how it smells.)

The nature spam to the end of the post is from a day trip to Dandenong with some friends from Trinity. I must admit, that though I absolutely love living in cities with lots of hustle and bustle, a quiet getaway with fresh air like this one was calming and a welcome change of scenery.

Here's wishing your Monday blues away and a good week ahead! It promises to be so for me, brunch planned on Thursday and Friday, hopefully my ASOS package arrives this week and a new post will be under way!

P.S. : Bought my first Essie nail polish - I have a feeling this is the start of an obsession that will not end well...

Rub of the green

Just a quick post on my new nails that I am in love with!

While rummaging through the depths of pinterest, I came across a geometric nail art pattern and was absolutely smitten with its clean yet unique look. So when went to the nail salon with my friend yesterday, I was determined to have my nails done in the same fashion.

While browsing through the colour selection, the british saying "rub of the green", meaning luck, for some reason popped into my head, so I opted for a deep viridian under a forest-green glitter.

I must say that these two make quite the combination!

Will finish off here before I start to ramble off on tangents, happy weekend everyone!

All Things Green and Red

CHRISTMAS IS ALMOST HERE!

Hopefully everyone has plans on how to make the fullest of this year's xmas! :D

I for one am going to spend it somewhere where the weather is horribly un-christmassy, so it seems pretty pointless for me to do a Christmas fashion post since I'd just be wearing a singlet, shorts, and hopefully an icepack on my forehead. So to make up for that I'm going to make a wishlist of green and red things to make myself (and hopefully everyone reading this) feel slightly better.

Although something is telling me it's not going to work out very well, seeing as the word here is wish-list and not have-list.

Green and Red Christmas Wishlist!

1. Christmas Nails
this is probably the only thing I have on my wishlist. I went out with Denise to get them done just this morning. Nails are my weakness, more than anything else. My favourite are the reindeer, because they sort of look like Unicorns, but christmassy. Don't look at me like that.

2. Red Balenciaga Classic Town Coquelicot
Like, I can't even. I want so bad. ):

3. Green Tea Confectionery
So I was blogsurfing and I went to Jean's  blog. WORST MISTAKE OF THIS MONTH I TELL YOU. *SHAKES FIST*.  Because I saw the pictures, and since then I've had this intense craving for green tea-related confectioneries that JUST WON'T GO AWAY. Dear waistline, you'll have to abandon all hope of coming into existence this holiday.

4. Red Highlights
I used to have them, and now they've faded to a light blonde. I want them back! Here's a picture from back then :D

There are a bajillion more things I could put on this list, but unfortunately they aren't green or red, so the list ends here. I've so much planned for the holiday and been so busy lately I didn't realise till I sat down and looked at my calendar today that I've almost been home for a month. O: O: O: O: O: O:

It just started to rain so I'm going to curl up in my bed. Plus it's already 2AM in the morning. Goodnight everyone!
