Juxtaposition

For this post, I'm easing back into it with a trip back to my comfort zone - monochrome en masse. Well not really in comfort, because on the contrary apparently typing is all I need to do in this weather to work up a line of sweat beads along my hairline. I'm also going to be starting an internship soon, so let me revel one last time in the pleasure of cropped, midriff- baring tops, asymmetric hems, chunky boots and my hair all loose in the wind before I have to subject myself to the horrors of more conservative office wear. -shudder- 

I had planned for this skirt to be shot at a later date after I had gotten rid of that food baby (hahaha I'm heading back to Singapore, who am I kidding?), but seeing as I would be photographer-less in two weeks, there was no way around it. On the flipside, this serves as motivation for myself to get back in shape, and for the bulges of that food baby to grace the face of social media no longer than this one post.

If you follow me on Instagram, you'll know that I spent the last two weeks in Australia staying with Lily in her house in the suburbs. She was very kind to put me up as I waited for graduation. I can safely say that two weeks later I officially developed suburbititis. It was a sight to behold, for suburbia certainly becomes me. While I did work out occasionally, there wasn't much to do except go to Coles. Days were spent lounging in my pajamas, watching reruns of an old korean drama and treating my mouth like a black hole. The difference being that we don't know where things go when they disappear into black holes - that packet of lemon crisps, however, I can definitely see where that went.

Beautiful Little Fool

The college I'm currently at was having a 1920s themed party, so what better excuse than that to get all elaborately dressed up? Also, more monochrome for everyone. I wasn't kidding when I said I loved it. 

Honestly, it was not until I began picking up little bits and bobs for my costume that I began to learn about and appreciate the roaring 20's for all it's lavish and opulent grandeur. To me it is almost as if it sits in a perfect little bubble in time, if you will pardon my weird choice of words. The war was over, everyone was celebrating and the economy was flourishing. It was the carefree era of modernity and shifting paradigms with the invention of automobiles, cinematics, women securing their voting rights, and not forgetting the flappers which were the feminine icon of the 1920s. If I had lived then, I would have thought it the beginning of an age where everything seemed to be possible.

I couldn't sport the bob and finger wave hairstyle, complete with dangly headpiece, or the classic drop waist flapper dress that was all the rage, so I made do with some curls and a black sequined dress. Complete with pearls, gloves and soft focus photo editing. :P

More importantly, it was also the time in which A.A. Milne published Winnie The Pooh. Now what could possibly compete with that on my list of priorities?

Cross My Heart

Helloooooo everybody!

I must sincerely apologise for the almost two month hiatus I've just taken on whim! It's just that I was pretty busy while I was in Singapore, and uni picked up at a really fast pace this semester, so I've barely had the time to do any outfit shoots at all. I must say, I am really glad to be back in the cold and drier weather in Melbourne, despite the ridiculous amount of rain and wind it's been offering up these few weeks.

I paired this cross print sweater with pleather-look leggings for a tougher, sort of grunge-esque look that I've been quite into recently. However, I couldn't resist keeping my usual collar and put on a white blouse with cutouts. I think the cutouts show the perfect amount of skin in the right area and keeps that slightly feminine element in the outfit. Took out my black lapalette bag to go with the sort of monochromatic theme I've got going on here.

Also, check out the new bad boys I have on my feet! (no more wedge creepers *celebrating in background*) I get many mixed opinions on them, but I'm going to wear them anyway. They're so high and loud and badass. I find the leopard print pony hair a really gorgeous touch. Not a fan of animal prints, but I couldn't resist. Well, I can't resist alot of things.
